Mushville Democratic Union
Mushville Democratic Union (for short: MDU) or more commonly referred to by just it's capital name Mushville is a nation in the SuriVerse with claims mostly in Minnesota and Antarctica. The capital of the MDU is Mushville.
The MDU was originally founded in 2024 as a Minecraft project, while Mushville existed for way longer, since 2017 through an Animal Crossing Project. Since then, the MDU has expanded as a nation represented in the official Akasaki Minecraft Server. Since then, the MDU gained further recognition through peers, and reflections in other projects, such as Pokemon: Cloudbright.
The MDU is based on the Twin Cities in Minnesota, as well as Black City from Pokemon: Black Version.
Ethymology
The name of Mushville came originally from a German YouTube Let's Play of Animal Crossing: New Leaf, in which the town would be called "Pilzdorf". This name has been taken and translated into English, since it fits the nation very well. It's here to remember, that mushrooms in food are illegal and against the GGL-001 to eat. However, they are allowed as decoration in form of certain Mushrooms, like the fly agaric, with some exceptions to the type of Mushrooms and place of display.
The name for the Mushville Democratic Union came through the representation of Democracy, and that Mushville sees itself as a Union of multiple Cities and Towns.
History
Background
1 (This part is missing some information. Please contact contact@surillya.com if you have any information about missing details.)
In about 2017, with the Animal Crossing: New Leaf Welcome Amiibo update releasing for Nintendo 3DS, Lucy watched a lot of Let's Plays about the game, including older ones without the update. In a particular German Let's Play1 of the game, the YouTuber1 called their Town "Pilzdorf", which stuck with Lucy. She went on to call her own towns "Pilzdorf".
As time got by, and Lucy went more into the international field, and embraced her American heritage, she translated the name into "Mushville" (Pilz = Mushroom & Dorf = Village in German). She went on to name her island in a community-project of Animal Crossing: New Horizons "Mushville", an Island, based on Black City.
Lucy hates Mushrooms though, so the name became the representation of the law, always remembering citizens to never eat mushrooms, so it stuck with her over years. In the Akasaki Minecraft project, as everyone created factions and nations, Lucy reinvented Mushville as the capital of the MDU, a democratic union of cities, towns and resorts, the MDU was born. With Lucy as the president, and Mimiru-tan representing the prime-minister of the MDU.
Geography
The MDU consists of different cities and towns, depending on context. Officially recognized as official and real states of the MDU count its capital Mushville, as well as the cities of Markistan, Jabonia and Pulloverian.
Government and politics
Mushville Democratic Union operates under a special "restricted democracy", with one set government and it's members voted by the public, while the President is nonexchangeable. Decisions in the nation are usually made through public polls. There are no presidential votes, except the president decides to step down. The MDU government currently consists of one president and one prime minister.
The MDU currently does not have any official ministries, other than the Mushville Democratic Party (MDP).
Elections and federal political parties
As the MDU is a restricted democracy, there is only a single political party, the Mushville Democratic Party. There's technically no law, permitting citizens of the MDU to create their own parties, however, even if doing so, there's a constitutional law, making the current president of the MDU nonexchangeable, except through stepping down from the title by free will.
Even if the president steps down, there will be held elections to elect a new president, usually meaning the prime minister does the job. Not every citizen can vote for elections, as an IQ of 110 is a minimum requirement to vote, as well as citizenship. Both need to be proven through official documents.
